Pool is the thirteenth episode of the third season of The Pretender which first aired February 20, 1999 on NBC in the United States. It features an appearance by recurring guest stars Jamie Denton as Mr. Lyle, Ryan Merriman as Young Jarod, Harve Presnell as Mr. Parker, Pamela Gidley as Brigitte and Alex Wexo as Young Sydney and also features Jon Gries as Broots.
Jarod becomes a pool player and brings Eddie Fontenot to justice for his part in the slaying of Marvin Dupree. Archive footage of Martin Luther King Jr. is featured in this episode that touches on racism. Young Jarod learns about racism but expresses deep conviction to never accept it. A young Jennifer Garner as Billie sings at the end of the episode, a song that Billie dedicated to her father and to Jarod.
